MC2 was appointed by Aintree Racecourse to support the John Smith’s 2012 Grand National. Aintree were keen to engage with a wider audience including 18-34 years olds, corporate hospitality and importantly, broadening appeal to non-race fans. MC2 ran a national and regional media relation campaign, which included the organisation of creative photo stunts. MC2 also provided social media support and created a Horsify app for consumers to create their own Grand National horse name, which could then be shared through social channels. MC2 worked with well-know celebrities like Colleen Rooney, Rebecca Ferguson, Amanda Harrington and Chelsee Healey to help amplify the social media conversations. The event had record attendance for the three-day meeting – 154,000 ticket sales and 11million people watched the Meeting through broadcast channels.
