Drive new business leads for Avecto’s Defendpoint software, and position the company as a leader in privilege management.


For this project we wanted to create a data-driven report with a novel angle that would play well with both CIOs and the technology media.


  • Analysed a year’s worth of Patch Tuesday bulletins from Microsoft – the monthly software patches that the vendor releases for its products – and identified how many vulnerabilities would be powerless if a company had adopted privilege management software like Defendpoint (it was 97 per cent).
  • Layered analysis on top of the results and packaged this into an ‘anchor’ piece of content – the Microsoft Vulnerabilities Report – complete with infographics.
  • Created additional assets for use across all online and offline channels, including a landing page with gated download of the report, social graphics and customer emailers.
  • Drafted a hard-hitting press release which was issued to the technology and security trade media on the day the emailers were sent, social media was activated and the report went live.


  • Over 600 downloads of the Microsoft Vulnerabilities Report.
  • 125 marketing qualified leads.
  • 14 direct opportunities secured with a value of over $2 million.
  • The press release generated more than 60 pieces of press coverage in both the UK and US.
  • Social media channels enjoyed record levels of engagement.
